OUR STORY

Lovemore was born
from a promise.

What started as a single dormitory idea in rural Zimbabwe became a 100% volunteer, zero–overhead organisation focused on access to education — not just buildings.

FROM MOMENT TO MOVEMENT

How a dormitory idea became Lovemore Project.

01 2017 · Zimbabwe

The moment that changed everything.

In 2017, during a cultural exchange, Joaquin visited Nechishala Secondary School and saw students travelling up to 20 km to reach class — then sleeping in classrooms during the week because there was nowhere safe to stay.

The idea of a dormitory was born as a simple, practical answer to a complex problem.

02 2020 · Pause

A promise on hold.

An initial dormitory project began with World Vision Zimbabwe — then COVID arrived. Construction paused. The promise stayed, quietly, in the background.

Years passed. The idea waited in inboxes, notes, and conversations that felt unfinished.

03 2023 · Restart

From a dormitory idea to a global fundrasing

Travelling alone in 2023, the idea resurfaced. An old email was found. A message was sent. The conversation with Nechishala restarted — this time with a clearer vision.

What began as “one dormitory” evolved into Lovemore Project: a 100% volunteer, zero–overhead charity focused on removing barriers to education through practical, repeatable infrastructure.

TODAY

We don’t just build dormitories.
We build access.

Lovemore Project is designed to stay small, transparent, and close to the communities we work with — so the impact can be big.

Side by side

We work with local communities, schools, and partners — not around them. Every blueprint is co-designed to match real needs on the ground.

Built to last

From materials to maintenance, projects are designed to be safe, durable, and locally operable — long after we’ve stepped back.

Brick by brick. Hand by hand.

Every dormitory, every bed, every path to school is a collaboration between volunteers, donors, and communities who believe access to education should never depend on distance.
